It’s important for me to draw my country onto ceramics. This way, people know where I’m from – between the coal mines and the cutaway.

I was born in Leigh Creek old town and now live in Copley on Adnyamathanha Yarta. As a kid, we would go camping on weekends and muster wild goats. We’d walk behind the goats to help the horsemen. We’d walk for miles – from 7 am to 7 pm. This was out at Balcanoona Staon (on the way to Arkaroola).
I went to school in Leigh Creek, and my favourite lesson was art. I did some poetry when I was in school, which sparked my interest.
