VERA RICHARDS

Language: Barngarla

Community: Galinyala (Port Lincoln)

I paint my connections to the land, the waters, my people, my Country. When I create I am in-tune with my surroundings. It is through my art I feel connected. My painting is healing.

Vera Richards.

Vera grew up and went to school in Port Lincoln and during holidays spent time in her Mother’s country of Kalgoorlie.

Her father, Brendon Richards (dec.) was Traditional Owner of Galinyala and worked tirelessly to improve the conditions within the community and wider community.

Vera’s father imparted the local stories of the tjukurpa of the Barngarla region to Vera and she continues to follow the themes that were passed down to her.

Vera paints the Seven Sisters Story detailing the journey of the sisters.
