KU ARTS SYMPOSIUM
KU ARTS SYMPOSIUM
KU ARTS CONTINUES TO PRESENT A ROBUST ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM PROGRAM, DELIVERED IN ADELAIDE OR REGIONALLY, ALIGNING WITH KEY EVENTS IN THE ARTS CALENDAR, SUCH AS THE TARNANTHI FESTIVAL OF CONTEMPORARY ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER ART.
The purpose of the Ku Arts symposium is to bring Aboriginal artists and art centres from across South Australia together, to share stories, participate in development workshops, connect with industry service providers and share their aspirations and challenges so that advocacy and support programs can be best developed.
The inaugural Ku Arts symposium, Sharing Our Stories arose from plans for the first Our Mob exhibition in February 2006. Consultation through the Statewide Indigenous Community Arts Development (SICAD) Project, managed by Ku Arts since October 2005, recognised an opportunity and need to bring artists together. Sharing Our Stories provided an opportunity for artists to share experiences, meet other artists and discuss ways to build a stronger Aboriginal arts sector for the state.
