MALKA AWARDS WORKSHOPS

Kurdnatta (Port Augusta)

April - May 2024

Ku Arts supported artists entering the Malka Art Prize by hosting three week-long workshops in Port Augusta in April and May 2024. The workshops were designed in response to requests for support from independent artists seeking to access significant award opportunities. The workshops provided studio skills training in areas including colour mixing and canvas stretching, along with access to quality materials, assistance in writing artist bios, and help with completing application forms.

Ku Arts recognises the significant barriers that regional and remote independent artists face in accessing opportunities. While Art Centres often act as agents to help their artists apply for prizes, independent artists can miss out. For this reason, Ku Arts provides Awards on Demand wrap-around support.

Ku Arts is dedicated to best practices in artist support and committed to walking alongside artists throughout the process.
